The Peoples Democratic Movement, PDM, has no plans or intention to merge or align with any other political party in the country, contrary to reports carried by sections of the mass media. The story is totally false and is ......
a total embarrassment to us. It dishonours the teaming members and leaders of the Party who are working hard day and night to make a difference. The National Chairman of the Party, Mallam Bashir Yusuf Ibrahim, made this clarification today, through his Media Advisor, Alaba Yusuf, in quick response to a publication in a mainstream newspaper.
Of the assertion that PDM was in a merger or alliance talks with the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mallam Ibrahim stated unequivocally that:
“It is figment of the fertile imagination of some political wishful thinkers and desperate elements who are trying to pull our Party down. PDM, is the oldest political organization in Nigeria today and it is waxing stronger everyday. There is no reason why we should merge with any other political Party at all. The only committee we have put in place recently is our membership registration committee. We have already registered millions of members and are planning to register millions more. Although we welcome constructive dialogue with any political party to further the best interest of our country, but merger or alliance is not under consideration, now or in the foreseeable future.”
Meanwhile the party, whose membership registration committees have been traversing the nooks and crannies of the country, sensitizing and mobilizing the public in preparation for manual registration of members, has slated its congresses and national convention for early next year.
